Projects

WSCI have a strong track record in delivering professional and effective construction management projects for West Australian organisations.

Below are some examples of WSCIs ability to deliver projects with a range of unique requirements and demanding compliance factors whilst maintaining exceptional quality standards.

University of Western Australia

Project: Engineering Building Toilet & Workshop Refurbishment

Architect: Ferguson Architects

Value:  $1.3m

The Civil Engineering building at UWA still had its original toilet partitions from when the building was built in the 1960’s. We stripped 16 toilet blocks back to the buildings core and re-fitted them with all new finishes and fixtures.

Many of the rooms had a change of layout which meant removing sections of the slab to run services to their new location. Some of the old pipework and urinals contained Asbestos which was removed by a licensed asbestos removal contractor.

The multi coloured toilet partitions bought new life to these old areas that had remained untouched for so long. The basins were fitted with Dyson Airblade hand dryers which gave the facilities a modern feel.

Edith Cowan University Bunbury

Project: New Nursing/Midwifery Facility

Duration: 2018 (3 months)

ECU Bunbury needed to develop a new Midwifery teaching facility and WSCI worked closely with key stakeholders to assist in designing a solution that was fit for purpose and within budget.

This project was time critical as the facility needed to be completed prior to the beginning of the new semester and WSCI was able to accelerate the project delivery even with the additional challenge of supply issues imposed by the Christmas period. After sourcing alternative suppliers WSCI successfully delivered the project in January of 2019 in time for the beginning of the semester

Edith Cowan University

Project: Business Growth & Development Building

Value: $320k

ECU were in need of a new space to meet with future students and provide them the support they need to enrol and complete their studies. The existing office was extended by removing the old partitioning and taking up the vacant space next door.

Our work on this project started prior to the design being finalised. We were able to incorporate ongoing design changes into our programme as they came about. This flexibility is a feature of the way we operate and we managed to finish the job on schedule and to the clients satisfaction.

The new fit out includes a timber grained feature wall in the tea prep area and a stunning curved TV screen in the reception

University of Western Australia

Project: Asbestos Removals & CTF Refurbishment

Architect: Ferguson Architects

Value: $650k

The Physics building at UWA had a lecture theatre, teaching lab & student lounge that were in desperate need of a facelift. This involved the removal of a large amount of friable asbestos during the demolition stage. We then completed the make good works to provide UWA with some fresh new spaces for their staff and students.

Working within a building built in 1962 presents certain challenges. Most notably the possible presence of asbestos in most of the building materials. Our staff are experienced in the identification, testing and removal process of asbestos.

The exposed ceiling beams were retained and made good to preserve some of the buildings original character. We also refurbished some stools and existing panelling to incorporate more of the buildings heritage into the new fit out.

Woodside Energy

Project: 1600m2 refurbishment of corporate offices

Duration: 2012 (5 months)

WSCI undertook all trades for the internal fit-out of Woodside’s corporate level. This included the construction of a dynamic space; with operable walls allowing the client to manipulate the size of the boardroom based on occupancy or open the room up entirely. A contemporary palette was selected for the open plan workstations creating an interesting contrast from the front of house space.
